Community Support and Service Projects

We have some very special and wonderful supporters we would like to thank for their contributions this quarter.

Senior Service Project

Emily Wolf is a high school senior from New York who choose to knit hats for babies in Iowa as her senior service project.  At her high school, students who complete 300 hours of community service are given a ribbon to wear at graduation.  Emily chose TPP as the beneficiary of her work after she researched “to find the right place where my hats would be used to help families in need”.  Emily also said that she “felt drawn to TPP and I hopes all is well in Iowa as she prays TPP continues to help others”.  The culmination of Emily’s project was sending us 25 completed, adorable, knit preemie hats.  TPP thank’s Emily for her service and congratulates her on her hard work.  We wish Emily all the best as she starts college in the fall!

UIHC Volunteer Services Twilight Toast

The “Twilight Toast” is a fabulous event held annually by Volunteer Services at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) in honor of UIHC volunteers.  All Preemie Project volunteers are invited to attend!

Volunteers Needed for June Work Group!

We are looking for volunteers for our June 2009 Work Group Weekend.  We need people to help us prepare for and volunteer during the work group.  You DO NOT need sewing skills to attend.  We have jobs for everyone.

**Potluck lunch will be served.  Please bring a small dish to share.  Beverages will be provided.**

Exciting News for TPP!

We are excited to announce that the IRS has approved our application for 501(c)(3) tax exempt status effective retroactively on April 25, 2006.  Obtaining this status will undoubtedly benefit TPP in many ways.  Not only are we exempt from paying income tax, we will also be able to apply for grants and corporate donations.  Additionally, this status allows our volunteers to use their donations as deductions on their personal income tax returns.  Upon request, we will provide a receipt for donations made back as far as April 25, 2006.  Please to obtain a receipt.

Thank you to all of the people who helped to gather the information for this application.  We would like to thank Andrew Hosmanek, our wonderfully talented attorney, for the countless hours of work he spent preparing our application free of charge.  This would not have been possible without his endless dedication and expertise.  Thank You!
